Proaspat lansata la Computex 2008, placa de baza Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 este prima din lume care dispune de 4 porturi Gigabit LAN.
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 este construita in jurul chipset-ului Intel P45 si este o solutie interesanta pentru folosirea intr-un server in cadrul LAN Party-urilor. De asemenea placa dispune de un chip TPM care in viitorul apropiat va fi folosit pentru protectia la copiere a jocurilor.
Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45
Proaspat lansata placa de baza ASUS P5Q Deluxe este o implementare a chipset-ului Intel P45 + ICH10 si promite performante de top dar si o eficienta energetica imbunatatita.
Noile chipset-uri Intel (northbridge P45 si southbridge ICH10) sunt construite pe tehnologia de 65nm, ceea ce se traduce printr-un consum mai mic de energie dar si prin mai putina caldura degajata in timpul functionarii.

Testele prezentate pe net au demonstrat ca ASUS P5Q Deluxe este o placa de top, dar cu un pret destul de mic pentru ceea ce ofera: 120 lire sterline (aproximativ 600RON).

Gigabyte a lansat placa de baza EP45-DS4 pentru procesoare Intel LGA775.
Aceasta placa de baza este compatibila cu toate procesoarele actuale Intel pe socket LGA775 si ofera suport pentru un FSB maxim de 1600MHz. EP45-DS4 este bazata pe combinatia de chipset-uri Intel P45 + ICH10R si este compatibila cu memoriile DDR2-1200MHz (pana la maxim 16GB de memorie).
Pentru partea de grafica, placa este echipata cu doua sloturi PCIe care suporta o conexiune PCIe 16x sau doua PCIe 8x pentru configuratii CrossFire. De asemenea, este prezent si un al treilea slot PCIe (pentru placi video), dar acesta functioneaza doar in mod 4x.
Placa incorporeaza 6 porturi SATA II si 1 port IDE care pot functiona in RAID 0,1,5,10. Alte porturi prezente sunt: 12x USB, Gb LAN, 1394 (FireWire), HD audio si Dual bios plus.
EP45-DS4 este dotata cu tehnologia proprietara Gigabyte, Dynamic Energy Saver, care ajuta la economisirea energiei electrice. Placa utilizeaza numai condensatori solizi, iar racirea este asigurata de heatpipe-uri din cupru. Pentru cei pasionati de overclocking, EP45-DS4 dispune de utilitarul Easy Tune 6 ce permite modificarea frecventelor de lucru direct din Windows.

Foxconn Dreadnought - seria Quantum Force

Foxconn a lansat o noua placa de baza destinata segmentului high-end: Dreadnought.
Foxconn Dreadnought face parte din seria de placi Quantum Force si este bazata pe chipset-ul Nvidia nForce 790i Ultra SLI MCP. Dreadnought suporta cele mai noi procesoare Intel Core 2 Extreme si Core 2 Duo/Quad cu un FSB pana la 1600MHz.
“The Quantum Force range of motherboards is now expanding as we bring a wider range of solutions to the market for enthusiasts. Dreadnought allows enthusiasts to couple powerful Intel processors with NVIDIA SLI-enabled graphics cards” commented Greta Kuo, Quantum Force Product Manager.
Dreadnought detine suport pentru memorii DDR3 2000MHz, PWM digital cu 8 faze si 3 sloturi PCI-E 2.0 x16 ce permit configuratii video 3-way SLI. Sistemul de racire 4-in-1 Quantum Cooler este construit integral din cupru si heat-pipe-uri din cupru ce unesc zonele Northbridge-Southbridge-VRM si care poate fi usor adaptat pentru racire pe aer pasiva sau activa, racire cu apa ... sau chiar pentru racirea extrema cu LN2 (azot lichid) sau cu gheata.
Placa de baza va fi disponibila spre vanzare in aceasta luna, la un pret de aproximativ 399$.

Heading to the high-end motherboard offerings more and more, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) has launched its latest killer motherboard. The ECS X48T-A Black Series motherboard is based on Intel's X48 Express chipset, and as such it offers full support for Intel 45nm processors, Intel XMP technology, and ATI's CrossFire technology (two PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots). The big cooling you see on the picture is ECS' Qooltech Generation 2, a fan-less design with single heatpipe and enough copper to cool efficiently hot parts such as the Intel X48 north bridge, the Intel ICH9R south bridge and the CPU PWM area. The X48T-A motherboard is available now in limited quantity, so you better hurry up. More info is available here.
